Why This Journey

This journey explores the upper regions of China’s greatest rivers: the middle-upper Yangtze of Chengdu, and the upper Yellow River of Gansu.

Rather than following the rivers literally, the route moves through the cities, highlands, and cultural regions shaped by them, revealing western China through food, faith, textile craft, grassland life and sacred landscapes.

At the heart of the journey is Norden Camp, a rare luxury nomadic retreat connected to Norlha’s philosophy of sustainability, Tibetan cultural preservation, and harmony with nature.

Along the way, guests encounter Chengdu’s slow living, Tibetan Buddhist culture, Hui Muslim traditions, Yellow River scenery, and the remote beauty of the Bingling Temple Grottoes.
